Chickamauga:  0.91 inches of rain last night.  water temps started out around 58°F, but I quickly found 64°F water temps in the sloughs and shallow pockets.  plenty of sun and the wind really picked up and started blowing pretty hard out of the west.

water's still pretty stained.

continued exploring backwaters today.  going places I'm just not comfortable. here's one from the day.  wide view so you can catch a glimpse of the scenery.

caught fish today on the lizard (zoom 6".  california 420) and the frog.  most bites came on the frog.

the fish were back in the real skinny water.  but had pulled away from the shore as water levels were dropping.  most action for me was off primrose beds.

I was reminded again of just how much fun frog bites are.

spro 65 in black.

and then I went and outsmarted myself.  couldn't just keep fishing the black spro, had to try the poppin frog (also black).  and that was the end of the bites.  maybe someday I'll get smarter.

it's really still a bit early, but when fish are in less than 2 feet of water, they h it 'stuff that moves'.

Congrats on a good day. Can I ask as a Canadian / Floridian fisherman, what are primrose beds? I even Googled it before asking and didn't get anything related to water or fishing.
Thanks

IN the spring during Crappie spawning time that's one of the things we look for them yellow flowers along the shore line. Find them and most of the time there are Crappie close by.

have been looking a little closer Lip.  Think the plants are different.  but the primrose sure seems to set up just off the shoreline with those yellow flowers.

first heard this as it related to Lake Kentucky.  When the yellow flowers show up, it's time to flip the buckbrush.  think those things are 'mustard flowers'

at the lake it looks more like this

pretty hard to miss.  but not everywhere the mustard flower grows also has primrose.  and on guntersville, primrose never really dies back in winter...

You could be right CF the yellow flower I'm seeing around the lake could be mustard flowers.
