Your choice of line?

Just wondering from those of you who fish the shakey head method what type of line you use..mono or florucarbon?  Or something else.  Have never really fished this style and wondering which type of line you use.

   Triton1a as of late I've been doing it with Berkley Fireline Crystal, but the water I'm fishing isn't that clear, light stain. Fluorocarbon would be a good chioce as it sinks and has a low stretch factor, you need a line that has good sensativity for the light pickups that are common with the shakey head.

I use Gamma Floro for the shakyhead. Personally I use 12 pound and it has worked well.

I been using Tripple Fish Floro and Izorline(smoke).  Honestly I like them both the same!

I use P-line flouro because it handles and casts  well , I have heard good things about the Gamma (though you will pay a premium price) and the Triplefish which I have not had the chance to use. The Triplefish as I understand it is very manageable , casts well and is fairly inexpensive.

I've been using the Gamma line for a few months now, and am impressed with it.  I use the 8 pound on my spinning rod, and 12 and 14 pounds on two of my baitcasters I use...

ive recently put on some trilene 14 pount tess green line on my ultralite.. but it seemed to tangle every so often, so I put on some Super Smooth, which has worked out nice since I started using it.

I'm still using the BPS/XPS mono. I use 10-14 lb.s on my shaky heads. Depending on the size of the fish I'm hunting. It's a very tough line and casts very smooth. Plan to try the flora here soon.

I know what your talking about man....I got some 12lb-trilene-green-big game,and it has to be the worst line ive ever used.....stiff as heck...and just jumps off the spool and tangles.

Well Rich, I use something different.  I use 20# Power Pro with a 15 # fluoro leader.  Seems to be working for me.  I use about a 2 or 3 foot leader so the line is invisible  nearer the bait, and still has the sensitivity of the braid for those light pick ups.

T-1a try some of the Yo-Zuri soft you carry in the store. My choice would be that or Gamma. I use 8 & 12# test  as the breaking strength is higher & I get a smaller diameter line.

Generally I use silver thread or Spiderwire, depending on the water clarity and my presentation, but lately I have been considering Vanish Transistion. Anyone use this?

The jury is still out when it comes to lines....I have been testing several lines this year without a clear cut winner.......it really gets hard when you fish in clear lakes and stained lakes....to come up with a line that will work in both clear and stained water.....wish I did have a line of choice.....but at this point I am still not sold on any one line........

I love stren super braid for crigs, drop-shots, and sometimes jigs.  The non-braids i have been experimenting with in different fishing situations.  I have tested cheaper lines (shakespeare, redwolf) and pricier line(suffix, vanish) on both baitcasting and spinning and redwolf though cheap has given the least problems, but maybe a tad less sensitive.

I use different lines depending on baits/conditions

65lb Pline Spectrex for the frog rod. Power Pro as well but it is a larger diameter, and it also frays and discolors much more quickly.

30lb Pline CX Premium Clear for big worms, and blades at night, in the rocks.

25lb Pline CXX Xtra-Strong Moss Green on the swimbait rod.

15lb Pline CXX Moss Green for flipping, blading, and buzzing

12lb Pline CX Premium Moss Green for ripping, light cranking, average size plastics

10lb Pline CX Moss on the spinning rod

8lb Pline Flouroclear for tough dropshot bites

My only problem is I'm young and don't have enough rods and reels, so I respool pretty much every week!

As much as the Pline costs just skip a few weeks of respooling and you will have a couple new rods and reels.

I use Power Pro & Yozuri Hybrid on by baitcasters, and Silver Thread or Ande mono on my spinning reels.

I like 6 to 8lb Yo Zuri Hybrid Soft Formula for my finesse techniques.
