Saturday 11/14/15, 1:00 - 4:00, windy, cloudy, light rain.

Too windy for the boat today, so I passed on the football and hit the Weston Lakes for a few hours.  Caught a bunch of small largemouths and a mudfish.  From the bank I saw three big bass hanging out together next too a deep drop off. Threw a Zoom Centipede in the vicinity and immediately got a bite.  To my surprise it was a big 5+ Peacock, It made several big jumps, and a good run before swinging it up on the bank.  While removing the hook, it made one of those peacock lunatic explosions and dropped from my thumb, and rolled down the bank and back in the water.  I was sick, it would have made a great picture, great colors!  For the next hour I watched the peacock wolf packs exploding on bait all around the edge of the lake.  There is nothing in fresh water like the attitude of a big peacock when hooked.  You know right away its not a black bass.  Attitude does not stop when lipped. :'( :'( :'(

Awww man... that would have been a great pic George. Nice catch. A 5lb Pea is a bruiser..

Dang George I bet it would have made for a good pic. Those peacocks have no quit in them. A largemouth will sometimes calm down but in my experience the peacocks just keep thrashing and fighting. That happened to me at tropical one day. The peacock wriggled free of my thumb and fell in the shallow water I ran after him and went into ankle deep water to grab it again and pull him out for a picture lol.

I think the better pic would have been a pic of you running down the bank trying to catch it again George!!! lo lo lo

Sorry, I couldn't resist! That sucks that you didn't get her on film, but I'm glad you got the thrill of catching a 5+er. That must have been a ton of fun!
