Headed up to Minnesota for some fishing in early August. Anybody having any luck on Whitefish/Cross Lake area? Looking for bass, but walleye and crappie are good too.

Full disclosure I have very little experience on that lake and haven't been there in a few years. I've done decent on Big Trout fishing tubes on weededges for both largemouth and smallmouth. There is also some good largemouth fishing on Cross and Daggett, most of my fishing there was shallow docks and laydown kind of stuff. I've heard Bertha can be good too, but I never had time to check it out. Sorry I can't be more specific. Good Luck and please share a report here when you get back.

Thanks for the reply.  I'll pack some tubes in with the other tackle.

Back from Cross Lake area.  Never actually fished Cross Lake. Spent all our time on Rush and Hen. Caught a fair number of bass and northern with a sprinkling of rock bass for good measure.
I caught most of my bass using junebug trick worms under docks. Caught a few on green/chartreuse tandem spinnerbait, and one on a single-knocker lipless Rapala. Also had a couple on a white buzz bait.
First three days were calm with minimal breezes. Wednesday was a bit brisk with 12-15 mph winds making it a bit more challenging. Largest bass was 17 inches with most being in the 12-14 inch range. Even had a couple of feisty six inchers.
If I had it to do again, in my boat, I'd hammer the docks all day long as that's where the bigger ones seemed to be.

One of the bass from the trip. Caught on a junebug trick worm from under a dock in about two feet of water.
