Brand new.  I just went to string it with 20lb braid spool does not turn.  I tightened drag and tension still nothing.  Any suggestions?

Did you use a backing?

Spool does not turn to allow any line to be put on. Was planning on 50yds of mono before braid.

Well I'd asked because I've seen another member here who thought his wasn't turning, but he'd forgotten to use backing. And he's an experienced angler too. Wish I could remember who it was so I could pick on 'em.

So if it's brand new and just don't work, I'd take it back. I do my own servicing, but I refuse to work on new stuff. That's what warranties and return policies are for.

I loosened drag not tightened it as I thought. Spool is working fine .   I will blame old age.   Thank you SteelHorse

Haha that happened to me once. I'm not old lol but I had a memory lapse. Now I remember up is tight down is loosen.

Our shop just got in for repair a last year's i model HG speed curado that kept backlashing. Come to find out the brass brake cone was just not there. We can only assume it was a mistake in manufacturing because that part can not just fall out and the owner would have noticed it if it had just fallen out.

Mistakes in manufacturing do happen, but glad yours is not one of them. Glad you figured it out.

Hey, I was having hell with my favorite Ambassadeur earlier this year. Turned out the thumb screws were working loose while I was using it.
I still blame arthritis for that one.

Did as Mike suggested used a different reel (same model) went to 20lb braid.   Gained plenty of distance     Thanks for the suggestions.
