Pound for pound they outfight a bass 2 to 1, or close to that. This almost 3.5lb Pea fought like a 6 lb bass.

I remember the 1st Peacock Bass I ever saw it was while I was deployed down to Panama. I was at Howard AFB getting a haircut and guy had one mounted in his shop. It was very colorful and big. He had caught it off one of the lakes off the Panama Canal on a top water stick bait.

A Peacock bass trip is on the bucket list
