Conditions:

Skies: Partly cloudy/sunny
Wind: 5-10 out of the North
Temps: Mid to high 80's
Current: Running
Water Temps: 82-83
Water clarity: Clear
Bass Boated: 36
Top 5 Est bag: 8-9.5lbs
Fishing Time: 0700-1:30pm

Fished the Holey lands today. Made it to the ramp at 0 dark thirty. As I was launching, a pretty well-known guide stopped by the ramp for a moment, so I took advantage of the time and introduced myself. We chatted for about 10 min, and off I went. Made a long run to an area I'm familiarizing myself with. The water was still. No signs of life. There was a steady current, but there were 0 signs of bait. Started on top, but quickly noticed that wasn't happening. Switched to a t-rig and connected almost right away. Little though. Continued fishing the area for the next 2 hrs and just caught a handful of little guys.

Ran back to another area with a lot of running water. Caught a little dink, and fished for about 30 min, and moved again.

Went back to familiar territory, took out my fluke rig, and the fish counter came to life. The only problem was that the bass was small. Continued to fishing the fluke for the next several hours. I would have the occasional big blow up, but I keep missing them.  ~xyz  ~rant .

Decided to switch to the spook boyo for a spell and connected with a very nice peacock. Great fight. I think I caught it on video. No picture, though. Nicked a gill, so I quickly returned the fish back to the water.

As 1:30pm. rolled around, I had to get going. Was fortunate to boat 35 bass and one peacock. There's a change in the air. Hopefully, the trend will continue, and this heat will go away for a while.  ~sweat  ~sweat

Thanks for reading.

Thank you sir. Curious how the alley will fish for you. I'm not ready to start going out on that stretch yet. Maybe in November I'll check it out.
