I live in Sonoma County.  3 hours in any direction..well not WEST of me, there are awesome lakes.  to be honest, there are two great spots west of me.  The Russian River, and some small lakes.  I love chasing LMB.  it is my passion for sure.  I love exploring new lakes.  going in totally blind, and trying to crack the code.

I did the Afterbay really blind.  no fish finder yet.  I didnt even know the depth if I couldn't see bottom.  but I was so stubborn and kept casting and trying and trying.  that first bolt of electricity when the bass bit was INTOXICATING.  I missed the first fish because I was asleep at the helm..but the next bite was jammed home.

THE FIRST FISH of any new lake is special.  doesnt matter the size.  it is the most victorious feeling.  vindications almost.

what hurt?  I fill my truck and it took $80 to put back what I used going to the distant lake.  OUCH!!! hahaha...

Shasta, Almanor, Bullards Bar, Oroville...gah...TOO MANY, and not enough time or gas money.  hahaha..

Nice problem to have.  That gas tank thing is a problem for sure.  With a kayak you only have to pump it into one thing, so there is that!  At least you have Berryessa and Clear Lake closer to home.

For road tripping, there are many more lakes in the foothills. Collins, Folsom, Amador, Camanche, Pardee, New Melones, Don Pedro, McClure and the list goes on
I knew I shoulda re-tied!!
