I mentally flip/flopped on kayak transport for 6-months.

I over analyze when I buy gear.  this one has to be a duration record.

3 options.

1. change nothing
2. go all in, and buy a trailer
3. go halfway and buy a kayak cart.

I really wanted the trailer.  but storage was an issue.  I can store at my office, but if I retired soon - all bets are off.  storage at my house is not an option.  my wife landscaped before I even considered a kayak trailer.  haha

history.  last time I fished, I fished Braitos at Clearlake.  the ramp is mossy and algae covered.  I slipped while I was lifting my kayak to drop the Hobie wheels.  my body went horizontal, and I landed with a thud..and then my kayak landed on me.  it must have been funny to watch!!  I laid in the cool water doing body-inventory.  I didnt get hurt, but I learned a lesson...my old method was going to injure me.  the kayak motor changed the weight issues, and made everything more difficult.

so enter the DYNAMIC DOLLY.  I can set my entire kayak up and ease it into the water fully set up.  I will have to jog back to the truck to lock away the dolly, but I can live with that.  most times, my truck will be right there anyways and I have to take it to a parking space. I'll try it as is but if I wanted I could buy the trailer hitch option and pull it with my truck.  but a mini trailer like that would be NO FUN to back up.  hahah..

I've found that with that type of dolly, a fully rigged kayak will not have weight evenly distributed on the dolly and it will be a pain and very heavy to move by hand.

I recommend a well placed kayak cart near the middle of the kayak to evenly distribute weight from a loaded down kayak. Once placed property, you can easily pull your loaded down kayak to the water with 2 fingers. I attach a small line to the cart and totally submerge the cart during the launch and retrieve it after with the line.

Going with a cart with bunks instead of a cart with a scupper hole mount allows to properly position the cart precisely for perfect weight distribution.

I hope all that makes sense?
