January is turning out kinda nice!!

its cold here..for us in CA.  yesterday, I went fishing.  I was headed to "secret lake" - when my wife double checked the weather for me.  she texted back that current air temps was 27 degrees.  hahaha..hard pass.  that is thick puffy jacket weather for me. 

I hook a right turn and go over the mountain pass to check out plan-B.  another secret lake.  this one is no-boats, no ramps.

the mountain road:  I had driven my older truck and I thought the transmission was slipping.  HMMMM.. that's weir....YAAAHHH!  I got sideways a tiny bit..and with my kayak sticking out the back!!  I was going so slow too!!  I took it down to 7mph and crept over the top.  I would stop and let cars coming the other way take the turn first.  I didnt want them to slide into me.  they seemed to go so fast.

at the lake was odd too.  it was so foggy and I slipped my kayak into the dark lake.  I jump in and look at the fish finder.  40 deg water.  WTH??  I mutter, "please dont fall in and please..just one fish!"   it was tough, until I rolled a jig down the face of the rocky dam.  BAM...I almost didnt believe it!  but it was a fish..a keeper!  now that I had the key, it was game on.  ended it with 20 fish..some 3's!

January isn't over!!  I get to meet Pat Dilling to fish with him on his home-turf lake!!!  what an honor.  thank you SIR!
