Hey Mike, I'm not Red but Grand Lake is probably about 180 miles from OKC and the water is stained and about 77 degrees and the lake is down some. The bass fishing is kind of slow but should pick up soon. Bring plenty of shad and crawdad imitating lures as well as plastics and topwaters. Also white bass and crappie lures if interested in these.........Amos 8)

Amos, thanks for the info....

I was planning a trip that way but looks like it is on hold for right now....

How deep have you all been catching your fish. With the water temps cooling down are the fish pulling up shallow into the creeks yet?

Mike, You may have heard my name mentioned.  I fish with Trey and Country some and they mention you often.  I just noticed you had some interest in fishing Grand Lake, Oklahoma.  Are you thinking about fishing there sometime soon?  I fished a tournament there last May called the Grand Challenge.  It was a tough tournament day for a lot of us...cold, windy, and wet.  I'm told there will be another one this spring and you can usually find info on it at Basszone.com, but there is nothing posted yet, that I can find.  I fished it last year with a couple of high school buddies and another friend.  Just thought it would be interesting to know, or know of, someone from this part of the country that may be interested in the same.  We might be able to help each other out sometime, share info, etc.
It would be best if you e-mail me at my yahoo account entered above or at work (Barksdale).  I don't check this site often so let me know if you got the message.  Take care.

EZ, I thought I might be moving up there at that time but looks like I am headed the other way. I do go up to Missouri quite a bit to visit the old man and he has expressed some interest in going over there. I will get with you.

Went to Grand this saturday night for some night fishing.  Didn't see much action.  Saw a few boats on the water no one seemed to be doing to well.  Up until a week ago fish were hitting well at night on worms in 7 and 10 in variants off docks and points.  Bigger fish coming in 8+ water.   The bite was just off this weekend it seems.  I also tryed some senkos and flukes very slow on those baits also.  Very light hits this weekned. compared to two weeks ago 25 + fish in 5 hours of fishing.  Water is Clear and over 85 degrees.   A friend said they are still getting some decent fish on deep points draging carolina rigs durring day light hours.  Thats all I know for now.

Man, I'm surprised I don't see more action here on the Grand Lake report.  I must say I love this lake!!  April-June the lake is non-stop action for LM bass, all spring and all fall the bite is consistant flipping docks,C-rigging points and of course crank/spinnerbiating the willows!  In the dead of summer the white bass surfacing on shad is amazing!  In the winter the crappie bite all day!  Whats not to love?!!  Sounds like heaven!!

I'll be fishing the Grand Lake BFL (non-boater) in early September.  Are there any UB members that live close to this lake and would be willing to give some assistance?  I live in the suburbs outside of Chicago and I've never even been thru OK let alone Grand Lake.  :help: PM or email me
