I picked up the REVO this past weekend, its a nice reel but it has no centrifical brake or any othere that I can see. Haven't read the manual yet either

I got a Revo for Christmas from the wife. Its the sx model. I have it spooled with 12 lb flourocarbon and can throw a 3/8 practice plug a MILE with this thing. I like it so much that I ordered another with my gift cards from bps. I have it on a 7' m Woo Daves Crankin rod. It is a nice combo for me. this is a good reel and man is it smooth.

I had the chance over a year ago to compare the Revo S and the Revo stx.  I was not impressed with the Revo stx, found it difficult to dial in different lure weights without backlashing and felt the distance was limited somewhat.  The Revo S on the other hand worked perfectly right out of the box.  I tried several different lure weights and this reel handled them all with ease.  It outcast every other reel I have tried.  Currently I own 11 Revo S's and when my older Quantum PT's start to die off I will replace them with the Revo S.

Best bang for the buck I have seen in the fishing industry in many years.

I own a Curado DHSV and several Revos about 7 S's 2 SX's (1 7.1:1 model and a regular)

I have to say, the ONLY thing I don't like about the revos is that the finish scratches off of them, even with everyday use... other than that they are work horses...

I think I slightly prefer my SX over my S's but I don't see how Abu Garcia can truely justify the extra $40 cost increase from the S to the SX...

I have ordered a Revo Premier which is the next evolution of the Revo's if you need a great reel at a supurb price point I believe this is the reel... it weighs a mere 6.3 ounces, has antirust bearings and an all aluminum alloy machined body...

I cant wait to try this baby out....

Big Revo SX fan here! I've started replacing all my older diawa's with the Revo SX series and seriously thinking about ordering the new series that just came out for 08. Abu Garcia definetely hit the mark with this series of reels. I would reccomend them to anyone.
If you give history the chance then chances are good that history will repeat itself. So pay attention to your fishing because the first one you caught was because you did something they liked!

IMHO Revo is the way to go. I have been a big ABU user for many years and love the new Revo's

The REVO s has a 6-pin break,  the side plate comes off just give it a twist upward  ;)

I got one for Christmas from the wife, have only used it one time but i love it,  fits nicely in my hand, and will cast a freaking mile!  Lightweight, and i love the fact that it has 24lbs of drag.

Sorry can't comment on the shimano

You can't go wrong with the Revo STX. I have the low end model and the top of the line STX. The STX has a "Linear Magnetic Braking System" for fine tuning. My low end Revo doesn't.

Unless you have to have the 7-1 a Citica is worth a look.  At 100.00 from Delo's plus a $30.00 rebate from Shimano you can't go wrong.

The Citica is well built like the old curado forgiving for the new angler learning to use a bait caster.  Is easy to adjust to get those long country mile casts with lures of all weights.

I have yet to use a revo and have nothing against them so if you can find one for $ 70.00 and it preforms as well then it's just up to what you want to hold in your hand.  ;)

I just got a Revo S as part of my Christmas BPS gift card store raiding I did the other day.  Havent "used" it yet, but the few minutes I spent casting in the yard already has me impressed.  Still I hold true to Pfluegers.  I just like em and also added the new Asaro reel to my aresenal.   ~bb

I have always been a Shimano user with numerous Calais, Chronarch and Curados over the past years. That being said, I bought my wife a Revo SX last year because of the small profile, and then another one. I used them occasionally and had no complaints. My wife bought me one for Christmas this year, she did not know I had just bought another Calais. Anyway, I don't think you will be unhappy with the Revo. The only issue, and it isn't a complaint, is that the hook set feels much different with the Revo than the Shimano reels. It feels mushy to me even with the drag tightened. I feel I can break the jaw on a bass with my Shimano's, but do not have that same feeling with the Revo SX.
