crankbaits out on the roadbeds BIIGGG crankbaits, deep divers, the fish seemed like they would be moving in soon tho!!! smallies were deep, largemouth seem to be moving in earlier,  we caught the smaller ones throughout the tournament shallow , the water temp increased throughout the tournament and on the last day we caught out better fish, including the two 4 lb largemouth, caught all of these fish near rocks and boat docks on tubes and small excaliber jerkbaits in minnow patterns
CATCH 'em if you can

Thanks Nate,

I'll be heading up there in a few weeks. Years past I fished Senkos pretty regularly and caught some nice largemouths. It seems like every year it changes a little but every now and then they look for something different. Never really fished a lot of tubes there.

Anyone of you regulars got any advice for me for my upcoming May 4th-5th? tourney.  I know it's a while in advance, but it's so cold and I need something to do.  We're going up for two days before and gonna try to figure something out.  We plan on targeting smallmouths spawning out deeper in about 10 feet.  Oh well, I'm off to look for reports, I hope somebody replies with a little advice for a fellow UBer.

Fished an open tourney May 4th+5th

We practiced Friday and caught fish on tubes, crankbaits, and 1 on a spinnerbait.  The spinnerbait fish went over 4.5.  It was rain, cold, and windy, with temps a little over 50 degrees.

Well the first day we got 16.88 lbs with 8 fish including two 4's and a 3 filling the rest of the limit with fish up to 2 pounds. We caught these on wacky rigged dingers and tubes anywhere from 1-8 feet. Once again cold rainy and windy with temps in the low 50's.

The second day we pulled up to our primary spot and got skunked.  The wind had changed directions, and the rain had subsided.  We didn't have anything until 11 o'clock when we caught a 1.5 lber.  Got another dinker (1-1.5) around 1:30. 3 o'clock and we still have the two dinks when we pull up to new water.  I got a 3.5 smallie on a tube in 30 ft. We continue fishing down the bank and run into some bluff blanks( I'm talking 30 ft 5-10 ft from the bank). I get a 3- 3.5 lb largemouth that was a football being only about 16 inches long.  Well that's all we got for the day putting us around 10 lbs.

We didn't weigh the fish because we knew we would need around 22 lbs to get a check.  The leaders had 26 lbs after the first day and pulled right in front of us to catch two 3+ lb fish which could have really helped us out.  We don't know what the finals were but the weights seemed to be dropping 1-2 lbs per boat from what we saw of weigh ins. Overall a great lake and one we look forward to unlocking the secrets to in the future.

C'mon guys! Everyone too busy fishin?  Large and smallmouth wrapping up the spawn, waterskiers startin to be everwhere. I get sick of pleasureboaters and dockowners. Think i'll go to lilly next week.
