I am the regional events coordinator for the C.A.S.T. for kids foundation.  The foundation has it's roots out west and has spread thru the yrs to central and southern states.  I got on board with the foundation to try and bring the word to New England.

We are planning our first event for Sept '06.  We hope to have appx 300 people and should prove to be a very rewarding day.  Anyone interested in volunteering your time, please feel free to email me.

In the mix also is a team challenge put out to Charlie Moore on behalf of CFK and BassResource.com.  The team includes such anglers as Clay Dyer of ESPN fame and will be a hoot if accepted.

What exactly are you looking to do and when and where will the event be?  I'm here in RI and could possible help out depending on what your trying to accomplish.

Tentative date is for Sept. 16th but we are waiting for the clubs to get their '06 schedule set by the end of Dec before we make that date solid.

Event will be held at Roger Williams Park

We combine kids that are from places like make a wish, Ronald McDonald house, etc with anglers and boat captains from around the state for a day of fun and fishing.  We will have appx 15 boats (from local bass clubs, hence the date delay) to take the kids out fishing for 1 hour shifts.  Bank fishing is also provided with Mike Briggi from R.I B.A.S.S. jr division and his team helping out there.

C.A.S.T. provides the kids with tackle boxes, rod n reels, t-shirts, hats, plaque w/ picture from the day in it, covering liabilities, etc.

What we provide is the fund raising and organization of all the events and sponsor sites.  Lions clubs, Knights of Columbus and other rotary clubs for tasks like running grills all day, clowns from the shriners, face painting and so on.

Volunteers are need for everything you can imagine from Parking cars to helping with the kids and the captains, etc.

This is a new game in town and promises to be a reapeater like it has in every other city that has joined in.  Volunteer turnout is usually tremendous for the fishing community is one that usually cares about it's neighbors.

I am currently assembling the 8 person committee.  The committee is crucial.  Each member is assigned specific tasks to delegate and accomplish on a timeline.  We will need community people also to help with the fund raising.  I want to approach bait companies, local tackle shops and retail outlets, government agencies etc.  For example, Wal-Mart donates $1000 to every CFK event.  The legwork and paperwork for tasks such as this , are on the itinerary.  Organization among the club members will also need to be handled.  The list goes on!!

I'm sure I've left stuff out but if you have any questions, just ask.

Sounds good but only thing you might want to consider is that my club is having our singles tournament on their on the 17th.  You also need a permit for the tourney and its 75 bucks.  Good luck if I'm around I'd be more than glad to help.
