i am looking at buying a 5 1/2 in ribbon tail mold but i dont know if it will be round all the way around the body so does 2 cavity mean is it to spots for the plastic

If it says that it has two cavities, then it has two seperate cavities, for making 2 at one time.  If you are wanting to make a worm that is completely round, then you are wanting a dual-sided cavity.  Del-Mart is probably your best bet.

At the various on-line mold dealers sites, they are listed as 2 piece molds.

i wouldn't use a hard plastic mold, the mold will warp and wear down after pouring 300+ degree plastic in them over and over.  the expansion and retraction of the plastic will not last forever.  now the aluminium molds will last forever.  The melting point of lead is 621 degrees and they pour melted lead in them over and over, 300+ degree plastic won't phase the aluminium.
