I just got Terrible Tuesday's updates automatically installed on my version of Vista SP1.

Now Firefox is not able to load with some problem with chrome not being registered or somethin, no code.

I rolled back and it worked fine, but the thing is that this update is a mandatory hotfix or somethin, so I guess it is IE8 for a while until they get this firefox bug fixed.

Just wanted to give everybody a heads up.

Which KB # is it?

I had that problem a couple of months ago.
Download the program CCleaner from Downloads.com.
This program will help clean your history, cookies, and
other temporary files. It will also remove login names and
password history if you don't disable that feature so make
sure you have them written down before you start if you
don't remember them.
It can also uninstall faulty or unused programs and do
minor registry corrections.

I used CCleaner to clean things up then uninstalled
Firefox and re-installed the newest version.

When you get new updates review them first and only install
critical updates. Only install optional updates if you are having
problems in that area.

Good Luck. Hope this helps.

Not sure, they installed 3 or 4 at one time. I just changed the HD in this machine and got SP1 installed day b4 yesterday, been installin updates on every reboot, that is why I know that it happened at the last update.

If I roll back all is well, I know it is one of the updates, but can't pin point which one.

Mozilla says it that I am not installing it as an administraitor and it isn't gettin the chance to build the chrome file, but this machine is in admin mode all the time since I am the sole user, and  there is only no log in.

I like Vista, it is no worse than some of the other first run of a series in an operating system. 95, Millineum, I think it was. It seems that each build usually had a first one that is kind of glitchy, and then the next one has all the bugs fixed.

Now we're talking about something I know a lot about.  I may not be the best fisherman in the world but I am a Tech Nerd.  Two hobbies that you usually wouldn't find the same person into.

But All of these post are great suggestions.  CCleaner is a great app.  I currently am running Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 and its a great version of firefox.  Better than 3.0.6 (newest version).  I also am dual booting Vista with Windows 7 Beta.  If you guys really want to experience a nice version of Windows go try out Win 7.  Its everything that Vista was supposed to be.  MY biggest complaint about Vista is that it takes so long to boot and be ready to use after booting.  Win 7 is connected to my wireless network 5 secs after windows pops up.  I dont have to wait for windows to "warm up"
Have faith, windows vista will be going away soon.  THANK GOD.

But this is now kinda off topic but here is a great tip to speed up firefox without need for any addon.  You google make firefox faster but to keep you guys here on this site I have it here:

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

There is a few more things you can find on youtube for making firefox faster but this is the basic stuff here. Above works way better than the fasterfox add on and is safe to use. It makes a pretty big difference.

All of those values were installed already, but then I have faster fox running.
