The Indy Bass Club fished the second tournament of the season at West Boggs Park in Loogootee Indiana. All the anglers woke up to some thunderstorms with heavy rain and vivid lightning. Tournament director Jeff Pontius delayed the takeoff for 30 minutes to allow a thunderstorm to pass through the area to keep all the anglers safe. He also made a mandatory check in at 12:00 PM because the forecast called for some violent weather around that time. 16 teams took to the water at 7:20 AM. The team of Fred Lynn and Boyd Patterson purchased the 1st starting position for $10 in an auction. Proceeds from the auction are used to purchase the food for our annual club cookout between day1 and 2 at our classic tournament which will be held at Green River Lake in Kentucky in September. The fishing was tough with several teams reporting not catching fish until after 12 pm. The team of Ken Bilyeu Jr and Sr brought the winning bag to the scales with 4 fish that went 15.60. Second Place went to Jeff and Jim Pontius with 3 fish that went 11.10 anchored by the big bass of the tourney 5.81. Team Pontius also took the rolling big bass pot with that fish. Rounding out the top 3 was Josh and Bob Hayes with 3 solid fish that went 10.68. The "Dock Talk" revealed that most fish was caught on tubes, sweet beavers and crankbaits. The Indy Bass Club will make its third stop of the season at Lake Lemon in Bloomington, Indiana on May 22nd. The Lake Lemon tournaments in the past have been really competitive with some big fish brought to the scales. We expect the same this year.
