Hey guys all of these posts about making your own lures has inspired me so I decided to start with in-line spinners simply because they don't look too hard to make.  Anyway, my question is instead of going out and buying special paint, does anyone know if nail polish would work for painting the spinner blades/bodies?

in my opinion, any paint will work as long as you have a outer clear coat or epoxy  over it for protection. Actually, i use makeup on some of my baits ....... experiment, the different effects you can get are amazing...... good luck !

It works best if the surface is prepped such as by roughing up w/ sandpaper, steel brush, etc and degreased.

I've been using nail polish to paint my lures for some time now and it works fine if you use the correct clear coat for the final coat. Using the wrong clear will react with the nail polish and melt it. For the most part I just used a clear nail  polish.

As you are just starting to make lures nail polish will be a good way to start and learn to see if lure making is for you!

One downside of using nail polish is that it is time consuming having to apply several coats. Powder coating is better, faster and has a harder finish. I have moved to using powder paint only now.

I've always wanted to try this and since you're starting, maybe you'd be willing to give it a go and that is trying powder paint.

I make inline spinners also but I have been too busy to try. Making inline spinners can be a blast from creating blade and body combinations to dressing trebles.

"Papi! I like this reel. It is so much easier to use than the other one (the spinning reel) and it is more fun to use too." Now all I can say to that is this;
"That's my little girl!"
