Not liars, Just good!!! lo

A 6 pound daily average ( 3X2#) wouldn't win you much money here, but over a season, would probably put you in the top 5 overall?

Now a 9 pound average, I think you would be in there?

Lot of truth in that article.

I'm sure it's all relative to where you are fishing.  2lb avg at G-ville or Toho probably means you stink.  2lb avg in Indiana and you'll be near the top.  Probably some truth to the study but not very scientific.

Krebs,
you should have a good average.  all the fish you "break off" anyway!!  They are all 6-7lbers right?

I would tend to believe the article. On a typical lake a 2lb average is pretty good. I know there are some places that a 2lb average wont do you any good but those are not plentiful. What he is saying in the article makes a whole lot of sense. Most people do tend to tip the scales to their advantage when they are boasting about their fishing trip. I on the other hand would never do something like that. ::) :)

I just finished reading the article and agree; a 2 Pound average would be good.  I must also state that in the majority of the tournaments I fished this past year it would not have done very well.  I actually had a good average weight per fish, I estimate  8 pounds per 3 fish on average for the year (we had weights ranging from 7.6 up to 14 pounds).  I must mention that in many of these tournaments we had good weights with 3 and 4 fish but did not have the 5 or 6 fish limits.  Our best finish in Team Supreme was a fourth with 5 fish for 11.37 pounds in the last tournament.  That is just a little over that 2 pound average.  All three boats in front of us had 6 fish limits, guess I should not of thrown that 2 lb fish over board, thought it was short, OOPS!  Do keep in mind that a 2 pound average will vary from time of year and location, just look at the Pro circuits.  There are a lot of tournaments on TV where a 2 lb average would have made you a lot of money by the end of the year.

I disagree....I've fished Two DOD T's at G-ville, and 30 lbs would have put you way in the money at each of them. If I could average a 2llb limit at every tournament I fished, I would be totally satified with my season. I may not win many, someone always gets on the big fish, but I bet I could make the top 5 in points.

As far as Guntersville goes, the larger tournaments 250-300 boats average a 20-25lb winning bag.  Some tourneys bring in more but if you come to the scales with a 20+ lb bag, your definately in the money.

A two pound fish on Guntersville can be right at measuring or a little under.  I've seen it first hand at some of the wildcat tourneys on the lake over the past few years.  IMHO, a two pound average on Guntersville is pretty common, although you'll often have that 6-9lb "kicker" fish.  Unless you are on the hawgs, you will bring 2-3-4lb to the scale with a good size kicker.

Our first Guntersville Tournament is scheduled for March, I will post the results.  Me and my Asst. Director are predicting atleast a 15lb bag winning it, maybe more...
