Your Favorite Lake in Illinois

Multi species fishing is rend lake. You Just can't go there and not catch fish I believe. Alot of good spots for bank anglers as well. My next 2 favorites are for bass. Forbes lake and little grassy.

I've always heard there was good Crappie in Rend lake but as long as we are catching them on Shelbyville we never went down there to find out.

Shelbyville is supposed to be a great all species lake too. I need to fish it. Rend is a great catfishery as well. I had prolly 10 trips last year just catfishing on the bank with 14 to 25 Catfish in 2 to 4 hours of fishing. It's a phenomenal catfish lake. I take a few friends who like to eat em. I've fished all over that lake I dont think I've been to a spot we haven't caught a catfish.

Yep Shelbyville is an all species lake. I go down there every spring for 3 or 4 weeks to go Crappie fishing. I have a friend who lives about 10 minutes from the ramp and he has a boat. We have caught just about every species that live in the lake including big catfish. There has been times when we have seen hundreds and hundreds of big Channels breaking and feeding right beside John's boat while we are Crappie fishing. We have caught several 12 to 14 lbers on our Crappie rigs that is fun.

My favorite was Kinkaid in southern Illinois. I have caught largemouth, smallmouth, crappie, big blugill and several muskie over the years I fished the lake. Plus, the best BBQ place in the world, with lots of World Championships, is nearby in Murphysboro.
