I'm going to buy my first higher quality baitcasting combo this spring and have been considering getting the Daiwa Tatula and putting it on a Daiwa Ballistic rod, if anybody has any feedback on either of these or has another idea please post.

Get the Tatula, but not the Ballistic rod. Thee are much better rods for that price range. Its not sensative at all, and kind of flimsy. Get a Carbonlite rod or a Shimano Compre.

Or a Dobyns of some sort from Ron, one of our sponsors.  Just sayin' .

Boy, at that price range I think you could do a little better .
Something like a Curado and compre or a Okuma Citrix combo, I'm not a big fan of the Tatula.

I got a Daiwa Tatula For Christmas and it is one sweet reel, I think you will like it. It's a little big for palming but it is so very smooth on reeling and will cast great. I would see if Mr. Ron carried any rods I like and order it all from him, he really does a great job and has worked hard to build a good name for himself and did a fine job doing it too.

I Do not like Dobyn's rods but that is a long story and has way more to do with the fan boy following of everyone screaming get a Dobyn's and once you ask what they like most about the Dobyn's Rods most of them have never even owned one, they just jumped on the bandwagon and don't even know why they did. I'm not talking about the guys from this site but just the internet in general. I guess they are ok rods but I know of a ton I would rather have but this is just a IMO and I doubt any one would agree with me on this certain one. I would buy a Duckett White Ice, Denali, Powell Endurance or Max, or a Kistler KLX but Dobyn's is one Rod I wouldn't take if it was given to me free.
