My "sources" tell me that Evinrude, like Mercury, will be killing their two-stroke engines (time frame unknown). They will also be going to a newly-engineered 4S.

So far my "rumors" have been right on. Interesting stuff, huh?

My Evinrude shop has been on top of everything that goes in or out of BRP. Wouldn't surprise me if he knew what color panties the CEO's secretary is wearing today. He says the G2 is already EPA compliant through 2022 and projected production for the G2 is through 2026. Jack says that most models run about 12-15 years. Intruders went 15 and Etec Gen1 is at 12 now. G2 is already at 4.

Sales have dropped sharply on the G1. Down to 115 this year according to Jack.

What I do expect from BRP when they do announce their 4S is that it will be the most advanced 4S to hit the market and will no doubt match or beat their 2S performance.

i do get tired of those folks!  and it only gets worse when they leave and move into other states.

they leave for the 'right reasons' then go about 'rebuilding' the same situation they just left.   grrrr!

any rumors on when we'll be able to get E-15 capable outboards?

It's a race now. Because of cost people purchasing equipment want it to be ready. There are lakes in California that you can not put a two-stroke on. These are lakes I fished for years 20 years ago and no one gave a rats arse about... I'm glad they are looking to improve water quality but it's out of hand out west.

Soon owning a 2S will make you a bad person, so companies wants to be the first to market with their 4S

That doesn't surprise me at all.  I thought it would have happened a few years ago.  Honestly, I don't have a problem with going to all 4-stroke.
Enjoying retirement in the great Pacific Northwest.  I've turned into a fair weather angler.  Why do it today when I can do it tomorrow?

Coffee just came out of my nose when I read this.... lo . I recently fished a tourney in my old Stratos with Johnnie Fast Strike 1-fiddy which gets mixed 50:1.

I fired her up coming off the trailer, she burped to life, and may have had her a tad rich, she likes that every now, and then. ;D

I almost had to turn the GPS on to find the dock to pick up my partner when he parked the truck.... ~roflmao

To me there is nothing gets me like the Sound of a field of High performance Bass Rigs blasting off, and the smell of 2 stroke oil in the morning mist..... ~c~

Let's be real here... bear in mind I'm coming from an ATV perspective with this...
Although 2 strokes have come a very long way from their blue smoke blowing introduction, far cleaner and with way more power than their earlier days when you couldn't walk past one without smelling like gas for the rest of the day, 4 strokes are usually even better still.
There's not a soul here, in my opinion, who shouldn't want to put the cleanest technology available on our waters. It's a regular occurrence for me to show up at a fishing hole only to find the waters oil slicked all around the bank. Granted, most of it is likely due to plain old fashioned littering, leaky engined ATVS's on nearby trails and whatnot, but some of it's at least partially due to the older, blue smokey boats I still see on the water. Maybe some of y'all don't notice it as much because it builds up mostly around banks, and calmer shallow waters, but many waters are far nastier than a lot of folks realize.

You are right.

There is not one person here that would trade their 4S Motored CAR for a 2S version, why should a boat be any different?

Years ago when I had a Lawn Care Business I went with Honda Equipment because they were the only 4S powered stuff out there. I still have the Trimmer and Edger and they both run like a top. Plain reg Gas and they just keep running.

IF and that's a BIG IF I ever bought a new boat it would be a 4S all day long.

What funny about that statement is it reminds me of a talk I had with my old supervisor when I bought a new Harley Sportster. He said something along the lines of "If I had another Harley I'd want a Shovelhead. With a coil, sparkplugs and a couple of wrenches, when you broke down along the road you could fix it".

I then said "well you know what I like about my new Harley? It doesn't break down". We both laughed and he said "your probably right!".

SteelHorseCowboy

Lol, of course not, it's new!
Know what I loved about my Jap cruiser? Hearing my stepdad gripe about selling it to me because his brand new Harley was spending more time in the shop with warranty repairs than on the road.

Speaking of, I know a guy who may be selling a 2014 Street Glide sometime soon. The extra warranty has run out.

my next outboard WILL be a 4-stroke.  too new technology or so I thought when I bought my boat back in 2013.  would have comfortably gone with honda, but didn't want to fork out the extra $$.
