Okay Brady  ~roflmao Let him win a big one and get that rush again and it just might all change.... I so cynical I can see it as a ploy to get sponsors off their ass and spend some money too.

However that said, fishing is hard, fishing at his level of speed and dedication is HARD and the body gives. I have a buddy that fished the elites for a year, he said that when he just couldn't pick up the trolling motor anymore for the day, here would come KVD, drop the motor, make 10 casts, pick it up and go again... He said the man was/is a mechanical machine.

I'd hate to see him retire but 30+ years is a long career in this game as it's played now and he's certainly accomplished an incredible amount. He's earned it.

I always had a hope that he would come back to B.A.S.S. and break the few records that he didn't while he was there.

Whatever happens he changed the game for a lot of anglers and will definitely be on the list of the all time greats of the sport.

Tim Horton's retirement lasted as long as TB12. Maybe Kevin will be back too.

He's been on the road for thirty years. We've had some discussions here in the past about the lives of pro anglers. A large portion of their lives belongs to their sponsors when they aren't fishing. While he's probably gotten really good at carving out time for family, he's bound to have missed a lot too. He's what 55-56? He's probably gotten a few wake-up calls and those AARP solicitations in the mailbox can make you stop and realize time is passing much faster each year. He's a legend, he can retire and live quite comfortably off his history. Maybe he'll have his own fishing show.

KVD is a legend, and always will be.  He fishes fast and covers water, not the guy you want behind you with only a short bit of time left, for the win.
If he is not fishing in the future, we will still see him commenting on the coverage.  Congrats to the very best in the business! ~c~ ~c~ ~c~

I applaud him for leaving on his own term. He is one of the very few to make enough money to last through retirement. Money drives the sport. The pot of money for tournament angling is limited by the realities of current economics. The pricing of bass boats, motors, equipment and tow vehicles is unsustainable for the sport. Money may not be the root of all evil but it's hard to justify a $100k boat to win a $10k derby...if you win.

He is a legend for sure. Interested what's next for him.

Broke my heart. He's going to team with Johny Morris to develop anything fishing related. MLF should change the name on the Redcrest to the KVD Cup.

I know Kevin personally, He used to fish our area pretty hard before and even during his rise. (No, we were not great close friends or anything)
Kevin is a super down to earth person and this does not surprise me to see him retire. I heard 5 years ago he was ready. He is a family man and this has become more of a priority for him. You will find he will spend a lot of time as a brand ambassador and TV guy along with Zona.  He loves the game and sport and will be around it for many years just in a different capacity. I am also betting there are plans in place for something that we just are not aware of. It would really surprise me if he did not. Best of luck to him.

The man will be missed, he has nothing prove at this point. Unfortunately all the greats have to retire eventually, hope there are no health reasons for it.
