I put in at the mile marker 41 ramp yesterday on my way back from a couple days of saltwater fishing in Chokoloskee.  It's been at least 5 years since I used that ramp.  The water levels are in the normal range with about a foot through the weirs.  I ended up using the trolling motor after bouncing my skeg.  Water is moving a bit on the south side of the alley.  The north side is crystal clear.  The weir just west of MM41 was plugged up but the others were open.

Fish seemed to be suspended on the drop off and it wasn't until late morning that a pad bite developed.  I only had my saltwater tackle so this was mostly a peacock trip.  Jerkbaits and clouser minnow flies worked best.  There was nothing happening on topwater.  I boated about a dozen peas, 2 LM and a couple of cyclids.  The biggest pea and LM were around 1.5 lbs.  I remember doing better on the alley and holiday park last spring.  Maybe that couple of cold snaps has thinned out the peacock population.
