I'm Not Begging, but...

I know we're heading into that time of year where everyone has their hands out looking for money, plus the UB Adopt a Family program is coming up. But I have some friends who are wanting to adopt a baby, and the costs are just criminally STUPID. I was adopted myself- I can't tell you how important this is to me.

Jeremy and Amanda Mullins are solid, working Christian kids. I've known Amanda since 1996 when I met her dad at a LOZ marine dealership. We developed a friendship and I eventually sold boats for them for twelve years. Dean was a pure-D brother to me, and he passed away a few years ago. Jeremy is also a bass fisherman himself.

We're doing a benefit fish fry for them Saturday at my restaurant (ya'll are welcome to attend of course). I don't have a clue as to how much we'll do, but we're going to make an effort.

ANYWAY. I know things are tough. And I don't want to take anything away from the Adopt a Family. But if you can find a way to kelp out I would MUCH appreciate it. Not as much as Jeremy and Amada probably. Thanks.

Of course EVERYTHING is appreciated. We shut the restaurant down Saturday and had a fundraiser fish fry. Folks were tremendous and we raised about $4100. Then Sunday we added another $400 or so from customers who couldn't make the show Saturday. Then yesterday I peddled $60 worth of catfish fillets at a bass tournament. It's a very satisfying deal. These kids are pretty great- they're going to put a second mortgage on their home come new year of they haven't raised enough, and man, I hate to see it come to that.

With a check from a UB member today we went over $5000 since we started this a few weeks ago. I'm tickled and proud of everyone who donated from here as well as our restaurant customers and my family from across the U.S.A. And Jeremy and Amanda are thrilled as well. They still have a ways to go, but it's been good so far. Thanks a bunch!
