Took a trip out to the Glades today. My expectations were not high. Conditions were pretty bad. High water, current all over, and hyacinth. Lots, and lots, of hyacinth.

Arrived before sunrise. Saw the water conditions at the first ramp, turned right around, and launched at another.

Tried an assortment of lures. Surprisingly, I was able to coax the peacock to bite. The fish weren't big by any stretch of the imagination but they were willing to bite.

Moved around quite a bit, I would pick off a peacock here and there.

As the morning warmed up, I managed to catch my first nice peacock.

That was my first nice peacock using the new Sierra 702, paired with the Maverick reel.

The peacock made a bee line towards the pads, peeling drag. Had to use the trolling motor and lay into the rod to turn that peacock. Fortunately, I managed to turn the fish and force it to go into the deeper water. A few peels of the drag later, I was able to net it. Whew!

A little while later, I came across nice pea # 2.  I cast into the shadow line of a little tree. As soon as my lure touched the water, it disappeared under a huge boil.

With the drag peeling off the Maverick, I quickly turned the fish, and it jumped right into the net!! Lol!

All in all, I had a productive outing. Ended up with 30 peacocks and 1 bass.

I'll take it!!

Thanks for reading.
