Gone is the 700 and 882 NX but now on deck they have the 482 and 591.  Was it marketing or is the new design something you were looking for in size and price?

BassBUFF

I like the size and layout of the 591, except for the console. That little windshield and the multi-function gauges just don't appeal to me.

I think it is a negative...don't like the new consoles at all.  But I see other brands doing the same thing...not sure why.

What don't you like?

How the side is open?

I see what you mean about the short window.

I don't like that the seat is missing.  Yes its nice to have step but my kids but would get sore sitting on this all day.

I like the layout of the gages and the room to have a graph in the dash, better then having to look off to the right to see it as you run.  Even more important now with GPS.  You can see your intended path better I think.

I have a new 591. I love the boat. As for the center seat. It is not gone it is removable. Makes a nice step-up. So far I love the multifunction gauges. Makes reading them real easy. Feel free to ask any question. I will try and answer them about the boat. Feel free to email me at oblancs@normandy.navy.mil

Yep, that open area is real nice in the summer but creates a bad draft up your pants leg when it's cold! I know, we live in LA so that is only a concern a few months of the year. I believe almost everyone is going to this modular console design. Which means it must be cheaper to manufacture somehow.

The windshield speaks for itself. It might work great, but I personally don't care for it.

The layout of the dash is fine. I don't like the idea of multi-function gauges. If one gauge dies you lose three indicators! On the other hand, if just one indicator out of the three dies you still have to replace the whole gauge which is way more expensive than just changing out a single function gauge.

Just my $.02

Well my 591 is great I really like the room. I have the duel console model. For electronics I am running a Lowrance 332C in the console and a 125C up on the bow. I like the multifunction gauges so are nice and easy to read with out my eyes wondering too far. Then again I have not had to replace one yet.   I am running a 150 optimax. The reason I went with the 150 is fuel cost. The boat is seeing speeds of 65 mph on gps, with the wife and I and a full tournament load. I am not the biggest fan on the little windshield. It works ok, but I think it still lets two much wind to my face. As for modular console. Even ranger is doing it. From what they say and Nitro reports it has to do with a full stringer system. The boats are supposed to be stronger this way. I know on my old ranger it had molded consoles. It got stress cracks when it met the gunnels.  Well I hope this helps.

DO you have any problems with leg room?  I'm a big guy and have found with some boats my knees come into contact with the dash - not comfortable.

Well I am 6ft 231lb and it may be a little too long on leg room for me. It is quite deep. Just my thoughts.

Do you have problems with knees hitting the dash?  I have run into this problem a couple times in other boats.

BIG PAPA

How long is the 591? and if known what does it weigh?
65 mph with a load makes me think it must be a little on the light side

I personally do not like the modular consoles on the Nitro or any of the other boats for that matter.  But I guess it looks like something that is going to stick, soI better get used to it.

Papa,

The 591 is 18'-7" long with a 94" beam,,,,,weight is 1550 lbs.......... its rated for 200 hp
the book says 150hp- 62-65 speed & 200hp- 71-73 speed

I had a friend this weekend that runs a 901 with a 200 get smoked with one of these boats, but he wasn't sure if he had a 200 hp on it or not, at least he was hoping it wasn't a 150 hp that smoked him ;-)

As far as my knees hitting I have not had a problem. Still you may look at the tilt steering. I did not get it. The boat does feel a little light at WOT. But not bad. I am being told the speed is coming from the new molding process that they are making the boat with. Closed molded I think it is called. I have seen speed well above the published book speeds with an empty boat and just me, but the boat was way too light the. With the load it is stable and fun to drive.

Good luck and tight lines,

Ive been looking into these at bass pro the past 2 days. The 482 and 591, both seem like very nice boats, I just have to wait until spring to buy one :(

KMF1470

I think both of these boats have a lot of knee room. I'm 6'5" and I haven't hit my knees in my 482 or my buddies 591. Nice boats and over all well designed.
