Well I got confirmation today that I am in as an observer for that Big Bass tournament at casitas.
Got mine this am, so I'm in as well.  Guess we can car pool down there on the 25th.  Stan have you received yours yet?

Stan

I think so!?!  His reply to my e-mail asking if he had recieved my form was, E-mail reads, "Yes.  You're In.  Thanks."  A little vague for me, that's like asking you're Dad if you can go out and play while he's watching football, and you get the "Uh, MMhumm, yeah, whatever."
Stan

TomG

That sounds like you are in.  If we have another tournament I am in if its for late Dec.

Stan, if you win another tournament off the spots I showed you..............I will start expecting a % of the winnings................. lo

calincalif50

I'm just going to follow him around next time,  lets all do that  ~roflmao ~roflmao >:D

TomG

I don't need to follow him, I already know where he is going.

Stan

It's a big spot, all of you could have been there with me.  It's finding the spot on the spot that makes it tough.  I just happened to find 2 such places, and Tom was camped on my third stop, so I gave it a try about 40 yards away but he was on the spot or close to it.  Oh and by the way I think those bigger fish are getting ready to move up into those spots and they will be there for awhile.
Stan

TomG

Yea, hopefully all of our homework we did last year on those spots and finding the spot on the spot will pay off this year.  Dean and Cal, you better start doing your homework now...................... lo

calincalif50

From the looks last week the whole lake was on the spot, but you are right we do need to do spot on spot on spot reconnoitering

Stan

Somebody's been reading the dictionary, what the heck is "Reconnoitering"?  I guess it has something to do with Recon.

Cal and Dean, I'm gonna help you guys out here, the spot on the spot is between waypoint 010 and waypoint 011  :embarassed:.  Hope this helps!
Stan

TomG

Well it will be a couple weeks before I am back out to Cachuma, we leave Sunday for our TDY and get back on the Friday.  But who know's maybe I can squeeze out a "comp" day during the week I get back since we are leaving on a Sunday.................. :)

calincalif50

I can work with those way points, google earth works wonders especially the new version.. :shocking:  I'll just wait until you go fishng and I'll sit on the shore with my binocs and watch from the bushes

Stan

If you get that Comp Day let me know and maybe we can go out together and pinpoint some spots, and find some new ones.
Stan

TomG

I will let you know.  I also have some new baits I want to experiment with so it would be better to fish with someone else so I know if its just the bait isn't working or the fish aren't biting.  Sometimes that's hard to figure our when you are fishing alone.

calincalif50

HELLO DEAN ARE YOU THERE???????? CALLING DEAN..hello? hello? must have gone   ~gf

Dean

I'm around, just not logged on very often.  I hope to get out on the 11th and then some more later in the month.

Cal, when do you want to start practicing, and do you think you are going to be able to fish the January 19 tourney?  Do you know when you will be gone yet?

TomG

Stan,  Didn't you buy some new workboots this past year?  If so what kind did you buy and are they comfortable would you recommend?  I couldn't remember if they were wolverine or ariat or something like that?

Stan

Wolverine, and yes they are very comfortable, I highly recommend them.  They're about $180 at you can get them at Carrs Boots in SM.
Stan

TomG

Wolverine what?  Is there a model name?

Stan

All I see is a number on the toungue its 01423,  By the way the ones I have are steel toed and I think the model that doesn't have steel toes are cheaper by $20-40.

I don't leave until March, and return the end of the month, Yes I'm up for some pre trny fishing.  Let me know.

I put the new TM bracket ( the one that came with the new motor) on this weekend and tried it out at Cachuma, Very rigid and makes very little noise unlike the older one.  Still can't seem to get a good pic on the DF, its better..noise reduction, surface clutter etc are on max so that helped.  I looked over the wires and there is just a minor (not thru the cable) rub above the water line so it never gets water around it.  I isolated the transducer from the motor with some self vulcanizing tape between the motor and the bracket probably won't help it, but then maybe it will who knows.

Stan

Cal, how was Cachuma?  Max and I are heading out there tomorrow.  Where are you going in March?  Are you going to be around for the GC tourney that month?
Stan

GOING TO IRELAND/ENGLAND TO DO SOME FISHING..REALLY JUST GOING ON VACATION TO SEE THE NEWEST ADDITION TO MY WIFE'S SIDE OF THE FAMILY.  HER SON IS HAVING THIER FIRST BABY, I'LL BE BACK ON THE 26TH AND READY FOR CASITAS ON THE 29TH.

FISHING AT CACHUMA WAS THE PITS, NOT ONE SINGLE FISH....STARTING BATTERY WAS DEAD AND LIKE YOU HAD TO DO THAT ONE TIME, I SWAPPED THE LEADS TO THE TROLLING BATTERIES, THAT MEANT WHEN THE VOLTAGE DROPPED TO 11.5 I WAS ON THE MOVE AGAIN... THE BATTERY WAS SO DEAD IT WOULDN'T EVEN RUN THE GAGES.   I DIDN'T USE THE TM AS MUCH AS I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO FOR FEAR OF NOT HAVING ENOUGH STARTING POWER FOR THE MOTOR.  I NEVER WENT ANY FURTHER THAN JACKRABBIT FLATS AND TO THE DAM.  I DID FOUL HOOK WHAT FELT LIKE A SMALL FISH UNTIL IT CAME UNBUTTONED, OTHER THAN THAT, I NEVER TRIED THE LONG POINT BECAUSE OF THE START MOTOR ISSUE.  OH WELL MAYBE NEXT TIME.  BUT I THINK THE SAYING 3 STRIKES AND YOUR OUT APPLIES , 3 WEEKENDS OUT AND NOTHING TO SHOW ANY DAY.  CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT...GETTING VERY DISCOURAGED WITH MY FISHING ABILITIES

Stan

That's what happens sometimes.  Go back to the basics and fish with what you have confidence in.  Remember 2 years ago I fished 5 times in January and got skunked 5 times, what a month, and I was wondering if I should even be out there trying.  But I knew things would change.  I went back to my favorite things and started catching fish, Crankbaits, C-rig, and Senkos.  So ion the winter months I try to learn some new technique and if I get skunked well chalk it up to the learning curve.  Except in tourney situations. :embarassed:
