I am beginning to fish the Shakey Head a lot and was wanting a better rod. I am looking at the G.Loomis shr822 Shakey Head Rod. Was wondering if any of you have this rod and what you think of it. I throw anywhere between an 1/8 and 5/16 lure. I not only want to shake and hope a lure with a rod, but also skip the lure. Just want a good rod for this application. I have always like G. Loomis because of their lightweight, feel, and quality. Any info would be great, thanks.

I have a G. Loomis shakey head rod. It makes me believe theres no other shakey head rods out there.... period.
I'm sold.

If you don't want to fork over the big bucks for a loomis, All-Star makes a couple of good models.

I fish mostly spinning tackle with shakey heads, I like a med-heavy fast.

don't laugh too hard....but I used my buddies lightning rod this past weekend with a shakey head and it felt really good. It was light and responsive, had plenty of backbone to set the hook and pull some quality fish out of cover. They have come a long way from what they used to be, and are pretty good on the price too.

I just got a Shimano Cumara 6' 8 inch spinning rod this year that i absolutely love for shakey head fishing.  Casts 1/8 heads no problem. I have caught  40-50 fish on it the last couple times out- biggest about 5 and it has had plenty of backbone. It is very light weight and sensitive. You feel everything on the bottom and even the lightest bites.

I would recommend checking out a few of the kistler rods.  I would personally prefer the helium lta 7' spinning rod, but all of there rods are great.  They have some really exciting new models out also check them out at www.kistlerrods.com

I have the G-loomis shakyhead rod and love it, that being said you need to lay your hands on a few rods and pick what you like as your the one using it. Good luck fishing
