I just bought the comfor-troll kit to install the recessed trolling motor pedal. I open the box and looked at it and OMG that is a giant hole I have to cut in the deck :shocking:
Has anyone installed this before?

Chris,

go to www.bassboatcentral.com  then go to the forums and then the skeeter forum.  search the post.  I remember awhile back some guy had step by step instructions with photos documenting the whole process.

I saw them and want to get one, but i don't think I have the space between the deck and the bottom of my tracker or in front of my deck lid, might but...

Tom I saw that post as well, but can't remember where either,  it think retirement does that to you

Stan

I considered it once then I thought the same thing, NO WAY I'M CUTTING A BIG HOLE IN MY BOAT!

The pattern to follow is humungous  :shocking: :o

Once you fish with the lower pedal though, you will wish you had done it sooner.  HUGE difference in how tired your legs/knees get especially when it is windy.  Once you cut the carpet, use a roto-zip or other rotary cutting tool.  They make cutting openings in glass really easy.  I put the rod-buckles on my other boat in like 5 minutes.

Stan

I'm sure its comfy but I like to put my pedal where I want it especially when its windy.

I did it and I was worried from the start but when it was over It looked pretty darn good.  ~c~

Stan

Cool!  Will have to check it out tomorrow.

I'll have to clean the deck up. There was a lot of dust and I'm paying for the fiberglass scratch all day.

Mark Myers at polyfab.com is where I got mine for my 1994 Champion. It looks great and as stated above once you have one they are great. On mine I had two supports running down each side that the recess fit perfect right between. If you have any questions give Mark a e-mail or call him.

Thanks for the offer but I already put it in. The only thing I wish I would have done was used other screws. The ones that came with the kit stripped really easy and I had to drill one out. Other than that it looks good. I think at least. I'll see how it feels at the tournament tomorrow.

It was awesome, I wish I would have done it a long time ago. My back didn't hurt at all.

How deep is the hole you had to cut, I don't think I'd have the room

The hole was only 5 to 7 deep that I needed. But width was 12x16 give or take an inch
