Oh heck, if I could get the information off the card enough to email it to you, I could do the same for myself.  That's the problem!  I can't access any of the information on the cards, even though the photos are readily visible on any camera!

I've done all the Windows updates, I even tried the one Hot Fix that Microsoft said would fix the problem, even though what they were telling me was wrong with the computer wasn't what I was telling them was wrong with it!

I'm about ready to mind-wipe the computer and start over again from scratch.  If I didn't have all this data on the computer, I'd have done it already.

Before you throw in the towel, update your HP PC device drivers via HP's site, upgrade the BIOS also from HP's site, then retest.

I had a simelar problem with an SD card and it turned out the card or 1 of the pics on it was corrupted. Had to start from scratch after I brought the card to a comp. guru and found out what was wrong...Steve

Yeah, one card I could see, but THREE cards?  And they work in two different cameras.

I'll try to see if there are any newer device drivers than I currently have on the computer, as well as the bios...

LOL, tell me about it!  I'm not the brightest computer guy on the planet (far from it actually) but I can usually figure out a solution.  This one has driven me to strong drink.....   ~beer~

yea ive been thinking bout it. it has to be something with vista.

Ok ive been doin some reading and there are a couple of theories.

1 some people say not "safely removing the storage device" can cause this. but i doubt it would do it on all 3.

2 One person recomended running checkdisc instead os the scan and fix option. here is the quote i took from the site.

"Well, what bad advice once again from someone that works for Microsoft.
All you have to do is a checkdisk and NOT a scandisk on the drive.
"chkdsk M: /f" where M is the currently assigned drive letter.

This is simply more BS from Vista and Microsoft. There most likely is
NOTHING wrong with your drive and scanning it will confirm this. "
