So my fav jigs have had their skirt collars break away(as they all do someday) now my question is these arnt normal jigs there the strike King Denny brauer pro series. They have a built in rattle camber that a normal skirt collar can't slide over. ( I've tried six times. Six busted collars) even if I remove the rattle there's still a lead chunk it won't slide over. Now I could tie my own skirt for them I suppose do any of you do that not the hair jigs but tie your own silicone jig skirts? Or does anyone have Any experience skirting these jigs with normal collars?

I'm not familiar with that jig, but have used the rattles that clip onto the hook shank when making my own jigs. It's impossible to change skirts with that type of rattle on the jig using conventional collars, the collars just won't stretch enough to fit over them, so I'm thinking what you're describing is similar. The clip on rattles can be removed, but I usually super glue them too, which makes them impossible to remove.

I have tied the skirt on using tying thread, but it takes some patience & practice. I've been tying flies & jigs for a long time, but it's still not easy to tie on a replacement skirt, especially over the rattle & weed guard. You need a fly tying vise that has 360 degree rotation, and lot's of patience, it's a slow process but it can be done.  ~shade

Your best bet is to use the plastic zip ties made for electric wiring, which is much easier to get positioned, a tight pull, then clip the excess & you will have the jig back in action in no time. They come in different sizes & colors too!  :)

I've just gotten into tying my own silicone skirts recently.... It;s fun and well worth it.  You can create the colors just as you want them, to match the forage as closely as you'd like.  I never had success consistantly with jigs, but now that I have tied my own I have yet to go fishless while using one.  I have been outfishing my partners while they have been using traditional lures, and these jigs have already won me $2500 in tournament winnings in the last month.  I guess what I'm trying to say is, take the time to learn the process and get good at it, because you might stumble upon a great hobby that will result in more fish in the boat.

Well fortunatly I wanted to start tying flies in the winter months so I have a vice and all that's needed to do so. I'll just have to take my time and learn how to tie them off. But for now I'm going with the zip tie idea I have literaly thousands kicking around the toolbox. Thanks for the replies.
