Fishing in Aguamilpa.

Well last september I was invited by two friends of mine to go fishing, Bass fishing. I was like 15 years ago that I last went for bass fishing. I mostly fished in salt water for dolphinfish, but I was up to it. So at 4am we where getting all of the gear into my car and as soon as we hit the road they starting telling me how this was going to change the way  I saw fishing. So at 7:30am we got to Aguamilpa which is a dam 40 minutes away from the city of tepic, nayarit. This dam is responsible for a lot of the electricity that we use in this part of the country, so it's an interesting thing to see.

So we got to the rented and guided boat and started to go to the first fishing spot. I didn't have any gear for bass fishing so 2 reels and rods where lent to me. Spinning reels since I knew nothing about casting reels. So they set me up with a small lizard and we starter fishing. I could feel some small bites but I couldn't get the fish on the hook. So after a while I switched to a Rapala DT-10 and immediately started to catch up with my friends who already had near 6 or 7 catches. Later I again tried with a Texas rig, but this time I was using a 7" worm on tequila sunrise color and got my first bass. On the same worm I got 3 more catches and the day was over. I was hooked. This is one outdoor activity that I hope to enjoy at least 5 times a year so I'll keep you updated on the next fishing trips.

On this trip the largest bass was a 2.5kg, which is near the 5lb weight and we got near 50 catches. All of them where released.

Thanks for the comments. I actually had the chance to go to another lake a week ago, but I was with my litle girl and wife so it was more like a practice day from shore. No fish was cought so no pictures, sorry folks!!

Well, I did take this picture. I used this Kayak fot half an hour to take my kid for a spin so she could retrieve the lure after I cast it away.
