Alright, so I'm still getting acquainted with my Nitro NX882 w/ 150 XR6.

When underway in the water....if I go to trim the motor down before hitting it to get up on plain, I hear a clicking noise.   Sounds like gears slipping or jumping.

If I trim down while in neutral, no clicks.   If in gear at idle....as idling down, as it goes....'click'  'click'....

Trimming back up...no click.

Is this normal?

My initial thought was gears going bad, but I don't think there are gears in the tilt system are there?   It's hydraulic I believe...

Just wanting to know if anyone thinks this is something to worry about, or if it's normal.

I don't see anything that looks like it's binding or anything....

Just worried.....wife says I worry too much....

May be your solenoid clicking? Bad ground maybe?

Mine does same thing. 2000 nitro 901cdx w/2007 optimax 200.

Aaa Mercury. I love my mercs and won't run anything else but this is a common problem and a very simple fix.

The trim bars that run up and down, pushing your motor up and down, have a small roller ball in the top of them. Put a dab of grease on the balls and where they contact the motor. I have to do it about every six months. While your at it look for other rubbing points and add a little grease.

Awesome Mike!

Thank you.   I'll be doing that ASAP.

That does seem to be the sort of problem I would imagine making this kind of noise.

I'll let you know how it works if it ever stops raining around here.....

Thank you Mike!

Dabbed a little grease where you advised and no clicking / popping today.

Now I can trim up / down without thinking I was tearing something up!

I appreciate the help!

I'm pretty sure that your tip on greasing the tilt trim deals lead to me catching a nice bass this morning.

Biggest fish I've caught in probably 20 years....it was awesome!

(before you all start picking on me....I've not been fishing in 6 years...and was trout fishing in Colorado for 4 years before that....not many rainbow this big!)

Thanks again Mike!
