I just bought a 2008 Nitro 929 with a 225 mercury optimax. Has everything I wanted. 101 minkota fortrex, Lowrance LCX-27C on bow, Humminbird 997c with si combo on dash. Boat is a little slow coming out of the hole and only tops out at 65mph with two guys running a fury prop. That's fast enough for me but seems a little slow for a 225 motor. I love the room on deck and storage space. What's your favorite thing about your nitro?

Congrats on your new boat! ~c~

Now comes the fun part of getting it set up where it "fits" you.  ;D

Love the fishability of my 929 it's like standing on a dock  lo

What prop are you running and what are your RPM's at WOT

Best thing I love about my 929 is the fishability, has a shallow draft, might be an inch or two wider than other bass boats but the real key is Nitro carries that width for most of the boat rather than having a 94 inch beam at the seat and a 60 inch beam at the start of the front deck and a 10 inch beam at the TM the front deck keeps the width most of the way forward and then rounds in to the TM giving big ass boys like me room to move  lo

E5Zero

Congratulations on the "new" boat.  I have a 2008 Z7 and so far I love it, sure I want a 21 footer, but my boat is a pretty solid package.  I agree with Fogy, the front deck width has to be one of my favorites, plenty of room for a clumsy old fart to move around on.

If I am out of line sharing this ya'll let me know, but over on Bass Boat Central the Nitro guys have a setups section, might find some good info there.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does WOT mean?

I'm running a 25P Fury Prop

I'm also having problems with the aerator pumps. One pump is not working and the other pump seems to be pumping water into the boat...I knew one pump wasn't working when I bought it, but I didn't realize the other pump or hoses has a leak somewhere....any suggestions?

WOT= Wide Open Throttle.  You got the engine running wide open.

Sorry I missed this before now. As was said wot is running wide open throttle I'm on my phone so it's hard to reread what motor you have so 5700 rps high for an opti I think they red line at 5650 a pro xs should be 6000 or 6100 based on year so you might have room to play or may need to back out of it a bit.

The pumps are very easy to replace pull the rear storage box on the side that's not working you can pull the battery if you need more room. The pump is behind the black plastic wall that shields the live well about 4 screws and it come right out. Then you can drop in a new motor or replace the pump outright.

A hose leak is a pain in the butt to find. To start pull the drain plug on the boat and make sure there isnt any water it it, fill one of the live wells with a hose and let it sit. Pull the plug on the boat to see if there is any water if there is the leak is from the drain side if not than leave the plug out and run the live well and continue to check for water running out the boat. If it starts to leak its in the recirculate side if there still isn't any water repeat with the other live well. If you still don't find water then it's your main fill line and mine leaks from there and is a pain to replace so see if you can find the split and patch it.

Good luck the best two days of owning a boat are the day you get it and the day you sell it. LOL until then it's B break O out A another T thousand

Thanks Ron!

The motor claims to be able to run 5750 rpm's but i haven't gotten that much yet.

I will check the water like you suggested.

Now, I have a broken trailer bunk board. Happened while loading at Toledo Bend on Saturday. Does anyone make bunk boards already carpeted and ready to install?

You have 4 on the trailer right?

If it's one of the outside ones you can pick them up at BPS over by the boat stuff and service window.

If its one of the long middle ones then not that I know of.  I replaced mine twice, both times with treated wood from Lowes "10% Military discount" 1st time used some old carpet, glued the top of the board and used a staple gun to hold down the bottom and ends and screwed them in place with lag bolts like the originals were done.  You can get bunk carpet at BPS, Bayou OutDoors, Academy and even WalMart at times.  The 2nd time I skipped the carpet as the wood only lasted a little over a year and ran round head bolts though the top of the board and snugged them up enough to sink them under the surface of the wood.  They have lasted 4 years now,,,,,, well the last year they just held the boat in place as I haven't got to use it.  ~b~

Anyway I just figured the carpet was holding water and making them rot out faster than they would without and so far so good.  I also bought a set of easy bunk slides "forgot the name" they screw on the bunk boards and are said to help the boat load. I'm not sure they help that much but I wanted to make sure the hull had something to sit on other than wood at the start when I load the boat.  THose can be picked up at the same places above as well if you want to give them a try.

AS far as the top end I was getting 68.9 by myself and full tournament load before I blew it the 1st time with a 25p tempest plus, one hole open and two holes with the large diameter holed plug.  This was the best hole shot I could manage.  I switched to a 26 pitch and hit 70.4 once running up river but after I blew it I was only running 63 to 65mph at 5650.  Sounds like you might need to play with the height a bit to see more top end,,,,, I wouldn't think coming up more won't help much as you are 50RPM from redline but maybe it will help get the bow up?  Are maybe you are a tad too high and the prop isn't able to hold the bow as high as it needs to be to keep you on the end of the pad.  Mark your jack plate if you move it so you know where to put it back if going up or down doesn't help.  Also make dang sure when you do move it the motor doesn't bind and sit cockeyed.

Nitros are not known for speed but you should be closer to 70 than you are.  A good friend of mine has an 08 Z9 with a 250 and is just able to hit 71/72 and like 68/69 with two of us in it.   v~
