Need some help guys...

I finally got around to installing my new SeaStar helm last night.  Got the center hole enlarged from 2-1/4" to 3" (boy, that took some ingenuity!) and drilled the four mounting stud holes.  Pushed the helm in and guess what???....the studs don't make it through the backside to put the washers and nuts on them!!!!  They are flush with the backside of the fiberglass on the dash.  I notice there are hex openings in the ends of the studs so this leads me to believe they are removable.  Does Teleflex offer longer studs?  If not, can I remove all four and just use some stainless bolts running into the helm from the backside?

I thought about countersinking the holes on the backside to allow the washers and nuts to fit, but there is NO WAY to get a drill in there and I really don't want to make that area any thinner (weaker).

Any help?  Thanks!

Going to have to get with Sea Star on this one. They will enjoy the feedback so that they can provide a better product. Knowing all the boat config's helps them prevent future problems. And I'll guarantee your not the first that had to find a work around. Google them and get a customer service number and call. I'll bet both you and them will be glad you did.
