Spirit lake is HOT!!!! for bass fishing right now. I held a tournament on Saturday with 16 boats and every boat brought in a limit. Which was awesome!!!! There weren't any real big bass caught (big bass was 3.5 lbs) but every boat reported catching 50-60 bass. Every single boat culled out some fish as well. Most anything was working. Crankbaits, Shaky heads, jigs, topwater, plastic worms.
Winds were an issue on both days for Big Spirit lake (as is usually the case) but beyond that everything is coming up roses. Water temps were in the low 70's with southerly winds anywhere from 15-25 knots with occasional gusts to 35. Some reports stated that the more wind the better the bite for bigger fish.

The Walleye boats were plenty as well and fishing the rock reefs proved very effective to all the boaters I talked to. There is a really strict slot limit for walleyes on this lake and most of the fish caught were in the slot (17-22 inches I believe).

Head north to the Okoboji region and have a ball catching some bass
