Took off work early today and fished Pool 2 today with a buddy. I don't know if it was the rain, the season or what but ended up doing pretty well. We got 8-10 largemouth and lost another half dozen in just over 3hrs. Spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits and Lipless were the ticket. Had 2 bites on the Buzzbait but couldn't connect.

Hit the river again on Sunday. Caught 6 bass ranging between 1-2.25 LBs. Nothing big but that's two consecutive trips I've gotten into largies on Pool 2. Water temps were ranging from 51-54. Jigs and Spinnerbaits worked best.

Went to the swamp sunday, tonka yesterday, both were bad. The swamp hasn't been it's normal self this fall, all the deep weeds are gone, there is an algae bloom that hadn't gone away, this makes the deep water bite non existent.  I got 6 in 6 hrs, all of them 15-17", not good considering I can usually catch a limit of 18-20" there this time of year----bummer. And than there's tonka, I got 1 in 6 hrs, enough said.
bt tournament this weekend at maple, craig you going?

Can't make it if it's this Saturday, Don't have the funds. I plan on finding some river smallies instead.

Received an offer to tag along on a trip up to Mille Lacs today, So I called my boss and cleared my schedule. Was it ever worth it. We caught 25-30 fish with only about 3 that weighed less than 3lbs. Our biggest 5 would have gone 25lbs and the big fish weighed in at 5lb 15oz. Fish were absolutely smoking jerkbaits, almost ripped the rod out of my hand a few times.

I was thinking about not posting, lets face it, craigs smallie beatdown will dwarf anything (bass) caught in this state. This fall has kind of sucked, usually the best time of year for me. Not this year, the swamp got very wierd, tried a couple other places did so-so. Decided yesterday would be my last day of the season, lake z here I come. Had a good day, my top 5 were 5lb 13-4lb 10-3lb10-3lb-3lb. That 5lb 13ozer  was the biggest I've ever caught there, pretty sweet last day.

That's a hell of a day too. Any time you hit the 20# mark in MN I think it's special. This will be the last weekend before I winterize my boat, whether I fish or not remains to be seen. Saturday I'm heading up to Hinckley to set up deer stands with Gordy, However we might haul a boat with us and try hitting Pokegama/Cross or Knife Lake
