Ok so here is the deal....  I have been with out a bass boat for a year now..  I know, I know it has been horrible!!  I came across a 2000 Nitro 901 DC...  Now the issue, I has been sitting for quite some time..  The story I have been told from the fiberglass repair shop owner is that it was a Pro Anglers boat that was on Bass Pro Shops Pro Staff..  Well there was and issue between the angler and bass pro and they took the boat back..  Bass Pro had the boat towed to this shop were the boat now sits..  As the years go by the bill increases for storage of the boat... 4 years ago bass pro got ahold of the shop owner and said they are not going to pay him, just go head and sell the boat.  They sent him the paper work...  So then the owner decides that he is going to sell the Mercury Outboard, the trolling motor and trailer all separate.  He keeps the Hull.  Now that is were I come into this story.. I see the boat for sale for $1000 with a trailer that the boat fits on but is not a tracker trailer.  I have traveled and check out the boat.  Transom solid, floor solid, no evidence of soft spots on bottom of boat that I could find.  O yea boat has been sitting outside in the desert.  Carpet rotten, seats rotten, Gel Coat faded, boats dirty, wiring is all there, switches, consoles, ect... boat is complete just missing engine and trolling motor and tracker trailer..  I have owned 3 bass boat and two of them have been bass trackers.. 1 a 93 pro 17 and the other an 85 1710 and the 3rd on a 2001 Ranger 185VS..  I have replaced carpet and fixed wiring or repaired all wiring, or any mechanical issues on both the tracker boats also including all routine maintenance on the Ranger..  I'm a Mechanic for a living and can fix anything..  I have got the budget the get the seats completely recovered, new carpet including adding padding under carpet, a 1996 Mercury 200 outboard including controls wiring and Prop, 109 lb Motor Guide trolling motor, with also some extra odds and end to obviously take care of like new gas struts on deck lids, gauges, ect...  So now my question, do you think it would be worth the time and money to breath life back into this boat? As of right now I"m going to pick up the boat on Thursday (2/19/15) the trolling motor and outboard Friday (2/20/15)

With the price of new boats,,,, if done smart you will make out well.

The only thing that would worry me is the gel coat. If it's pitted then you need to address that before putting anything else on the boat.

Also might consider replacing, or at least inspect and repack, the wheel bearings on the trailer before towing it home. Guess it'd depend on how far you have to tow it.

Keep an open mind that if something is "there", it'll have to be fixed or replaced. Know this going in and it'll keep you from getting frustrated.

We'd love to see t progress reports/pics of this restoration if you decide to do it!;D

the shop owner is going to let me repack the wheel bearing in his shop and use his tire machine to put new tires on it.. As for the gel coat its not pitted any where, the shop owner wet sanded and buffed an area for me, came out pretty good.  Boat will be kept in my garage.. so my plan is to get boat, engine, and trolling motor to my house this weekend and starting.  I plan on posting picks of everything.. thanks for the imput

I think it sounds like a great project.  Even if you run into some surprises along the way, it is a good way to learn.  AND you can say that you are driving something YOU built, sort of.

Sounds as though you could have another nice bassboat for cheap! BTW, Welcome aboard!

The one nagging question in the back of my head is why if Bass Pro sent the shop all the paperwork that would allow him to sell the whole boat, wouldn't he sell the whole boat rather than part it out keeping the hull? Just be careful. -Jim

Im not sure why it is and that is a question i asked him and he said that is just the way he wanted to do it... i have called my insurance company and had them research the hull id number, i have also contacted fish and game and had them research i boat id number.. nothing has been reported on the hull id or state id numbers as the boat being stolen..  and i seen the state registration in the shop owners name and compaired his personal id and the name and address match Along with hull id numbers and the hull is registered to with his mane untill 1/2016...
