First smallmouth of the year

The lakes and rivers in my area are finally almost completely thawed out. I took a drive on Saturday to check the conditions of the lakes and brought a rod to wet a line for a bit. I stopped at an irrigation canal that has always been good to me. I caught this chunker among a few others. Sure was nice to get out there and catch some brown bass again.

I caught all of my fish on this day on a Whiskey River Bullhead tube in the Softshell color. They shied away from everything other than the tube.
