What are your thoughts on the talon and power pole systems? I like the talon it seems like a better system to me but see mostly power pole making me think I may be wrong

Lee Smith

I'm a power pole fan  ~c~  A few reasons:

1.  quick release, I can start go, don't have to wait!
2.  going under low areas, just lower the poles a little and go, like bridges, ect...
3.  when deployed, my back of the boat guy isn't fighting them all day  lo

Haven't owned a set of Talons, I know a few guys that do and they seem to be happy with them.  Almost a Ford/Chevy/Dodge thing I guess  :-\

I'm a Talon owner.

Ease of installation.  Can be installed in about an hr. or less.  Doesn't require space for the pumps.

If you purchase the tilt bracket, you can manually lower the unit to the deck to go under low bridges or to get into garage doors.

Can be removed quickly to secure while boat is stored or covered.

Cost less than the PP

Great warranty.  Even covers stupidity.  I took off with the Talon still down and it hit a stump.  Warranty covered all repairs at no cost.

Like Lee said, it's a Ford/Chevy thing.  Either way, you'll love'em.  And get two, if you don't, you'll wish you did.

Power pole guy here.

Lots of advances in both, it's truly what you want now. I like hydraulics, some like electric motors. You'll be happy with either if you go new. And definitely get two.

Living in the south, I'd give up my electronics before I would my power poles. Best invention for a shallow water angler since the boat.

I currently have power poles.
Knowing what I know now I would have Talons.
No pumps and hoses taking up scarce space in battery compartment are the primary reasons.
in case of a malfunction the Talon sounds easier to stow manually/

Don't have either yet. I prefer the PowerPole design/functionality but I like the new 12' depth you can get with Talons.

Power poles have "drift paddles" that you can buy seperatly. If you've ever wished you could slow the boat down when it's windy then might be something to consider. I've got them on my powerpoles and the paddles alone will nearly stop the boat.
