:(  Purchased a new Skeeter FX20 LE 2 months ago..... Everything is above average as far as expectations except the 3000 RPM porpoising.  Any suggestions.  I am not new to bass boats and have owned more than a handful.  But I am not talking about a subtle porpoise, I mean serious to the point of having to throttle back and start over.  Of course you can gas it and eliminate the problem but at times there is no choice.  And before you suggest trimming down.... it is trimmed all the way down.  I have been just living with it until this past weekend when the kids wanted me to pull them on a tube.  That friends was the worst experience ever (in a boat).  Would a hydraulic jack plate cure this?

A hydraulic jack plate could help a bunch. A lot of boats get set up at the dealer to be as fast as possible. Not many folks are worried about going slow in a boat like yours. So... the motor is set as high as possible. Which in turn hurts holeshot and low end performance.

Lowering the motor will help, and having a hydraulic jack plate with give you the best of both worlds.

Cheaper and better for your motor in the long run to get a 2nd prop and swap it out when you want to tow tubes or skiers.  3 grand lugging the motor under a load can be hard on the motor, going to a smaller 4 blade will let you turn higher rpm's but still get a great hole shot and bite while towing without scaring the kidos y going to fast.

I'm with Mike on this one - a boat built for speed (like yours) needs a hydraulic JP to help manage the wide range of speeds and conditions you'll encounter.  Trimming down will help w/ the porpoising some.  Trim down as you slow down.
