After a lot of effort going into this, The UBCS will be June 9-11,2017 out of cypress bend(Tentatively).  I am working on setting up a block of rooms for individuals to call and reserve.  As soon as that is set up I will put out more information.  All the festivities will be at the boat launch pavilion (more details to come).

Weigh in and Festivities will be held at Sam Miguel Park.  We have the pavilion reserved and I was informed that they have cabins available for rent if anyone is interested in staying there instead of Cypress Bend Resort.  The number to rent a cabin is 318-645-6748. Tell them you are with the UBCS.

Jared, how much are the cabins if you don't mind sharing?

There are 3 different types of cabins. The old A frames which run $65 a night, the remodeled A frames which are $80 a night, and the modern cabins which are $100 a night. All the cabins sleep 4 people comfortably, at least that is what they told me.

Folks, neither facility has enough open rooms to handle the entire event. So this is the best solution Andrew can build. Facilities that could possibly handle the entire group were either to expensive or below standards requested.

Thank You Andrew, I know you've spent hours and a lot of your own gas money searching this year. I appreciate your efforts. If it takes two places to accommodate everyone, that's unfortunate but it does give everyone a choice on the funds they want to spend.

Andrew,
Tks for the PM.  I talked with Carl last night and we're looking forward to the event.  I'll be making reservations here soon.  We'll stay at San Miguel if all goes well.

Where are the closest RV spots or does one of these places have them?

Not sure right now if we will make it or not...we are planning a Mexico vacation for either late May or early June.

There's RV spaces at San Miguel Park and Cypress Bend .  The links to the site is below.

So are we staying and having everything at Sam Miguel Park or staying at Cypress bend and weighing in  Sam Miguel ?

I just finalized the room contract with Cypress Bend.  We have 30 rooms blocked for this event.  Each room has 2 queen beds in it with normal amenities to include wifi and cell service. These rooms are $120 a night. When you call cypress bend please make sure you say you are with the UBCS special rate (This is set up as if you were going to a convention and there is a cut off date for this rate).  If your spouse would like to come this is the place to stay.  It has and indoor outdoor pool, gym and spa.  The Sam Miguel Park reservation is for the UBCS Event itself.  We will Launch, Eat, Weigh in, and Hang out at that pavilion there.

As Mike Said trying to find one facility that meets everyones needs is large enough to support it.  Getting 70 people to agree on anything is difficult. So this is the best option we could come up with.

I will not be setting up any sleeping arrangements (last year was a chore with the sheer volume of people).  If you have any questions or concerns let me know.

This sets up well for this event. Guys we have been doing this for 11 years going on 12 and it is a big chore to say the least to get this set up. Trying to get a date where both teams will have the most people and then trying to find a place that accommodate everyone is hard. Most places that are very nice are expensive and don't have enough rooms. The places that do have enough rooms are normly run down and for most guys that's not a big issue but there are some that like things a little nicer especially those that bring their families. With all that said I think this set up is a good one. It offers the best of both worlds and there should be no problems getting rooms. I still would suggest however that even though we have a little more space than normal you still should book your room, cabin, or camper space as soon as possible. These places book up quick and there is always a few people who wait til the last minute and don't have anywhere to stay.

The Oilmans must have a tournament dang near every other week. Heck we moved it twice in March and twice in April to stay away from them but it never fails we either hit the TOBI or the LOBI. I think this one is the classic for whatever that's worth. I'm guessing it will be fairly big but at the current state of the oil field I don't think they have near the people as they would usually have. I would still advise getting rooms ASAP.

It's a battle between two clubs, however we let everyone that wants to fish, fishes.

We put teams that are not part of a club with the club needing teams to even the playing feild.
