Ok, I lost everything I just typed. Oh well , let's start again. It looks like the annual tournament will be down here on the Calcasieu River. Of course we haven't closed the polling yet so if you haven't voted please do so. Once we close the polling and if it is still in favor to be down here I will begin to make reservations for everybody. Of course I will need to know how many people will be coming down and how many cabins will be needed. That's something we can deal with later for now let me tell everyone what is in the works. I have spoke with several people and decided that there will be a $20 per person entry fee. This $20 will pay for trophies and for a hot cooked meal on Saturday night. If there are enough entries we may have enough money for some door prizes. All the money recieved will be put back into the tournament one way or an other. If there is a sponser on this board that builds trophies let me know so I can use them. If not I have already found nice trophies at a good price. I wish I could tell yall we would have enough money to award money prizes but with only two clubs involved this year it doesn't look like we will  be able to do that. Hopefully this thing will grow and in the following years it will be bigger and better. Remember though this was set up so that the different clubs on this board could get together and share some ideas and meet everyone. Not to metion it will be cool to fish some new water each year.  Now heres the set up for the tournament: there will be three places awarded to the top three teams. After all teans have weighed in the clubs will get together and take the best 10 fish from it's teams. Those fish will be weighed in each day and totaled. The club with the most weight from both days will take home a championship trophy. I have thought of name for the tournament but I have to wait for Laurie's approval before I can post it. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please post them.

Rattle, I think you have come up with a perfect game plan. Winning money is not as important right now as meeting everyone from the board and getting to fish some new water, besides the bragging rights are much better than money to fisherman. Good job with the planning!!!!

One side note: Twin Cities Team Club is loosing particatpation because of two reasons: First is the BASS Federation Tournament is that weekend and second is the BFL on Rayburn that same weekend. We still have a few teams going and I haven't been in contact with THE CLUB which has many members that particapate on the board (really most of these guys fish both).  One that note, I would hate to keep changing the date but if we thought we could get away with it we would have to make a change happen soon so that we could plan. You said that Oct. was really out for you all because of hunting season? Is the first weekend in Oct. opening day, I don't have the regs or I would look it up? Just a thought, the flip side of that is that we will never come up with a date that is perfect for everyone, so sometimes it is better to pick a date and roll with it, everyone has there own priorities and they have to decide if they can make it. If they can't we all understand and no hard feelings. Hopefully they can make it next time.

Mike, there is that earlier date in September if that's better for yall. It's the weekend of the 4th. The first weekend in October is opening weekend and then from there the seasons start opening left and right. It wouldn't matter much for me because I'm working that weekend anyway. It's going to be hard to pick a weekend that everyone can make, we have a hard time just trying to get our tournaments on weekends that will please everyone. I'm sure yall are faced with the same thing. The first weekend in September wouldn't bother me, it just may be a little hotter. Of course you never know what the weather is going to do down here. I think most people voted late September because they hoping on some cooler weather. I can fish either date and will be willing to change my vote if helps get more people involved. We have a meeting coming up in a few weeks and I will check with everyone in our club to see if the first weekend would be a problem. If not and that works better for yall than we can look at that. Like I said, what ever gets the most involved is what I'm looking for.

Hey guys, don't worry about me in this changing thing. I would love to fish with everyone on "new" water. I have commited to this federation tournament mentally and can't miss it. If by chance however that the date is changed to earlier by all means count me in. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.....Dave the Dope Man

The only thing about the first weekend is that its Labor Day weekend.  That is the "last" weekend of the summer for lots of people, so the parks/water could be packed.

Just wanted to remind everybody that Sept. 4 is also our Defending National Champion Tigers first game versus Oregon State.  It is also probably the best home game on the schedule.  I don't know if this would influence our northern brothers and sisters, but down here everything shuts down when LSU is playing.

Althought it might make a difference to the couple that can't make the end of the mouth it might put a couple out by going at the first of the month. Even with the two major tourneys going on the end of the month would probably be better for crowd control and water safety. What is the water like down there on labor day, Rattle?

Hey I wish the guys fishing the other tourney's the BEST of luck and hope they represent the Northern Louisiana boy's well. But if for some strange reason there superior fishing abilities are not with them and they don't make the cuts they will be close and can swing by. On the flip side if they do well like I hope and exspect we will be closer on the final day of weigh in and can go represent them by hooting and hawlering from the crowd!!!!! I still vote for the end of the month.

man my bad I didn't realize that was Labor Day weekend. That would definately be a problem with boating traffic and getting the cabins. Thanks for the info guys.

We need to get this topic back in the discussion stage.  So we know about rooms and stuff like that, we need to get a "close" count of those going from the north.

Jeff and I are planning on making the trip.  Could you post if you are at least considering or definitely know? ???

We can do fishing boats in the day....casino boats in the evening. >:D

Mike and Laurie will be there!!!! It is going to be great to check out some new water and I love rivers. Are there any maps of the area? Rattle don't you need a new one ;D them old marked up maps can be hard to read? Probably better send that old one to me I know just what to do with old maps >:D FRAME them!!!!!

Haven't heard from any of "The Club Members" Mike you should post on that board and see what comes of it. Although I beleive most of them check this one too. I like fishing when everyone in the Club and would love to have some of them come too. I don't know if the GM boys will be able to swing that kind of time off though?

Mike, I Know they have some topos of the river and I'll see if I can find some. I'll let you know if they have any available around here and I try to arrange to get yall some. I lost my map but I pretty much know every cove, cut, and tributary to that river. Our next club meeting is on the 14th so I will have a better idea of how many plan on fishing it. I think we are going to have a good time. If yall get an approximate number of cabins yall will need let me know and I will run down and reserve them.

I would strongly recommend checking with a company call Standard Mapping. I have an excellent map of the Pearl river and if it is anything like the rest, I have to recommend it. I will try to put up a link for the first time, so Here it goes Standardmap.com...Someone let me know if it worked please........Dave

Dave, the link worked but I don't think they have a map of the Calcasieu River North of the Salt water Barrier.

Rattle, I was playing with my GPS software the other day and there seems to be alot of posibilities to fish down there. Question, I am building a map for the area and need to know where we will launch? North or South of Lake Charles?

Looking forward to the trip.....

Mike, we will be North of Lake Charles in a community called Moss Bluff. I don't know which map you have but if it's detailed we will be camping where the houston river comes in the West Fork. If you follow the West fork down where it turns into the river you should see a little ways north of that English Bayou. If all these names are not on your map don't worry, when yall get here I will take a ride with yall and plot alll these places on your map.

I missed our last meeting but I also like the idea of a inter-club tournament and having the clubs rotate hosting the tournament.  I believe for this type tournament a date should  be set long in advance.  I am not sure about a two day tournament, especially for long drives.  That would require staying two nights and getting back late on Sunday.

How many clubs are considering this?

Mike Noble

It looks like it will be a combination of The Club and the Twin Cities Team Club from up here...traveling to y'all.  The Sunday tournament will probably need to end around noon to allow for the drive home.

Wildcat, I will be explaining everything at our next meeting. If you can you need to try and make this one because we have a lot of stuff we need to discuss, some of it is dealing with this tournament but some other things have come up since our last tournament. To ease you mind on the two day event, Sunday will have an early weigh-in to help those with a long drive to get home at a decent hour. I think once you see the lay out you are going to like it. I know there are two clubs participating and I think there is another club from up North that may participate, but if I understood correctly most of the people that fish in one also fish in the other. Mike can probably explain that one better than me.
