Has anyone used this rod? How would it do  fishing deep (8-15') weeds like milfoil and coontail?

If you have one, what do you use it for most?

I've fished the 894 JWR a lot and have it in both GLX and NRX but I have no experience with the flipping version..
To me the new GLX models are a improvement over the version before with the green blank.

That's a very powerful rod, Loomis flipping rods fish 1.5 power more than their power rating, so it's more of a 5.5 power. Might be a little overkill unless your fishing 3/4-1 oz jigs in very thick weeds. Loomis Carolina rods also are labeled strange and fish about 1 power above their listed power rating. A 874 Carolina rod might be a better choice, will handle 3/8-3/4 jig. Gl

Thanks guys. I ended up buying it.  It may end up just being a slop rod if it's too powerful for my deeper weed application.

That is a very, very nice stick. You get a deal on it?
