Moms birthday is coming up & sheís been fishing w/ Dad a lot lately at the club pond and really enjoying it. Sheís even pulled in a few good ones in the last year (see below).

So I decided to build her a rod. Spinning rod. Nothing fancy really but something just for her. I started with a green CRB blank since green is her favorite color. Fuji alconite eyes. And Fuji VSS style full cork handle/seat.

My sister is cutting my some vinyl that says ďMomĒ for the top of the rod, and ďFluke MasterĒ for the bottom side. Lol the fluke is her favorite thing to throw & according to Dad she even has a secret color that the fish seem to love. So he started calling her the fluke master.

One special touch is this cork but cap I made from a wine bottle cork we found last year in the beach. The parents take us to the beach every summer & last year while walking on the beach we found this cork. So Iím using it on her rod. Iíll post some rod pics once Iím done.

Still needs a little sanding.

Thanks guys. Her bday isnít until the 19th but Iím not sure I can keep it a secret that long. Lol.

Yeah the wine cork is enough to make 2 but caps (since it has 2 ends lol) so I may make another in the future.

Luckily this one was the same diameter the whole length and not tapered like some corks Iíve seen. Must have been a BIG bottle of wine! Lol you can actually see it in the background of the last picture of the cap beside the cap the handle came with.

Great idea for your Mom's bday, however it looks like she's doing quite well with the rod she has.  I'm sure she'll love that rod.  Maybe she share her secret color with you. :-*
Enjoying retirement in the great Pacific Northwest.  I've turned into a fair weather angler.  Why do it today when I can do it tomorrow?

Forgot to add pics of the custom wine cork but cap. Itís not perfect but it looks pretty good for a hand made but cap.
