I want to do some smallmouth fishing up around Alum Creek Reservoir.  I already have my ChampXP 734 baitcaster, but I'm looking for a good spinning jig rod for smallies.

Tubes, etc.  That kind of stuff.  Just saw a presentation that has an egg weight attached to a EWG 2/0 hook with a tube laid over it - ChampXP being the most expensive I think I could go.  Putting a Penn Battle II on it.

Thanks!

EDIT:  Cabelas not carry Dobyns rods anymore?

A Sierra 703 will work great for those techniques. I have one and it handles big smallies in Erie.

As far as Cabelas. I can't find anything on their website.

Thanks Zippy.  Used to have a Sierra 692, so a 703 should work a treat.

Yep a Sierra or Champ in a 703 SF would be an excellent choice!! THX!!
