Nice setup - I told my brother to do that for his saltwater rods. I hope that he does that one day instead of throwing them at the back of the truck.

I haven't tried any of my salts in it yet, but as long as the butt fits inside the 1-1/2" pipe, I should have no problem. If I dont buy a hitch mounted carrier before next summer I'm sure I'll be using it for that a lot when my in laws finish their house down near bethany beach. I'll surf or bay fishing while my wife visits her mom.
