Howdy from SE Michigan

I never got into fishing as a kid standing around on the hot river banks of the James River and later the Catawba River when we moved to NC.  Fast forward 30 years and a move to Michigan, and my 9 year old has managed to get me into it.  We've been shore fishing around Oakland County this year and starting to catch some respectable largemouth, smallmouth, and pike.  He's even started fishing my baitcasting setup (took me 41 years to get to that level).

I'm gonna snag a couple kayaks in the spring to see if we can elevate our game a bit. Looking forward to tips and tricks from some more experienced anglers.
