I went yesterday, the 7th, and yes by gosh I was right.
Bass have NOT spawned and they have the mud stirred up fanning away.

After finding fish on the graph in a major creek I was excited. Wrong. Nothing after 3 hours. Of course I grab the jerk bait. 15 minutes later I'm hooked up am I'm sure it was a largemouth. Wrong. 2lb crappie. It even tried to jump. Well, I was bass fishing! You never know and I think that keeps us coming back. Last spring I catch 6 catfish on jerkbait or crankbaits. Maybe this spring it's crappie?

No bites after that. Same today. Bass are busy making beds. Totally ignoring lures.

Go ahead guys, laugh away. I did!

I tried catching them with crappie lures yesterday. How you think that worked out?

All joking aside, Hickory has some huge crappie and I the only one bigger that this one was the 3lb I caught in 1989. I was trolling for crappie back then and people were laughing at me.

Now they are multi rig boats trolling all day.
